The Process

  • Black and white image of a person handling a printed design on a light table, featuring silhouetted pine trees.

Taking inspiration from a variety of different sources, his process starts by taking pictures of his subject matter before going back to the studio and combining both hand drawn and graphically rendered images to create negatives.

  • Man working at a large screen printing machine in black and white.

From there, each negative is exposed onto traditional silk screen mesh and then printed by hand, layering up the bespoke mixed colors to create the final image.

  • Person engaged in screen printing, holding a spatula and a container of ink, near a silkscreen frame.

Whilst each print carries a uniqueness that comes from the very process of hand printing, the combination of both hand drawn illustration and digitally rendered elements creates distinctive depth and texture.

“I've always loved the process and the slightly unexpected nature of pushing and pulling ink through a silk screen and seeing what you get...I don't think that thrill ever diminishes!”
